The Cardamom Mountains National Park, which consists of over 800,000 hectares of monsoon forest, wetlands, mangroves, and a vast network of rivers, is a protected area that provides rich natural resources to the local community and greater Cambodia. In February, Coca-Cola Cambodia donated a solar-powered irrigation system to the Park in an effort to take concrete action to safeguard this important and valuable natural resource.
The irrigation system is a cost-effective solution featuring a solar-powered water pump and pipelines designed to significantly increase the survival rate for 40,000 seedlings in the Park in four years. These seedlings will then be distributed to local authorities and people for planting in their communities, as well as in designated areas within the National Park.
Through this project, we aim to achieve the goal of reducing our carbon footprint; protecting biodiversity, and building climate resilience. It follows in the footsteps of our partnership with the government authority back in 2021 to provide a solar-powered well for irrigating seedlings and promoting greenery in the Angkor area of Siem Reap Province.
