Guy Bradley, Swire Pacific's Chairman; Karen So, Managing Director of Swire Coca-Cola and Dang Jian, CEO of Swire Coca-Cola China, along with other senior management of Swire Coca-Cola and senior government officials of Guangdong Province, attended the groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate this historic milestone for Swire Coca-Cola.
In May, Swire Coca-Cola broke ground on the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Intelligent Green Plant in Guangdong. With an investment of RMB1.25 billion, this state-of-the-art facility is set to become the largest green, intelligent, and diversified plant in our Chinese Mainland market.

Swire Guangdong Coca-Cola Limited is the first Coca-Cola plant in Guangdong Province. After 43 years of development, it has become the bottling operation with the highest sales volume in the entire Swire Coca-Cola China. Serving over 90 million consumers, it holds a leading position in the Guangdong carbonated beverage market.

Following the commencement of the construction of the new Zhengzhou and Shenmei Kunshan plants, the official launch of Swire Guangdong Coca-Cola Ltd. Greater Bay Area Intelligent Production Plant marks another significant milestone in Swire Coca-Cola's 10-year, RMB12 billion investment plan in China. These three plants will collectively enhance beverage production capacity significantly in our Chinese market.

Spanning a vast 128,000 square meters, the new plant will house 11 new beverage production lines, multi-tier warehouses, and other supporting facilities. It will adhere to top-tier industrial standards for environmental protection, energy conservation, safety, and digital intelligence.

Innovative technologies, such as advanced room-temperature beverage filling and waste heat recovery systems, will be adopted to improve energy efficiency. Additionally, the use of new energy vehicles will help reduce our carbon footprint. The plant will also feature rooftop solar panels, and over half of its materials will be green building materials, meeting the international LEED Gold standards for green buildings, as well as the national two-star standards for energy conservation and green buildings.

The new facility is expected to increase annual production capacity by approximately 66% compared to the current levels at Swire Coca-Cola’s Guangdong branch.

Guy Bradley, Swire Pacific’s Chairman, stated in his opening speech: “The groundbreaking of this new facility marks a significant milestone in Swire Coca-Cola’s operations and will serve as a crucial pillar in Swire’s expanding presence in the Greater Bay Area. As a critical part of one of our core markets, we will continue to invest in our businesses in the GBA and further deepen our roots in the Chinese market.”

Karen So, Managing Director of Swire Coca-Cola, said at the groundbreaking ceremony: “This new plant will enhance our collaboration with the local government and partners, driving the industrial development of the GBA. We also look forward to further leveraging our strengths in sustainability and digitalisation to meet the evolving needs of our consumers and propel the industry towards a greener and smarter future.”
