Swire Coca-Cola HK is set to achieve 50% renewable electricity across its core operations by 2025, marking a key milestone in its sustainability journey.
In collaboration with RESET Carbon, an Asia-focused Carbon Management Consultancy, Swire Coca-Cola HK completed its first-ever purchase of 16,000 Green Electricity Certificates (GECs). This accounts for approximately 50% of its annual electricity consumption.
This is in line with Swire Coca-Cola’s 2030 Sustainability Development Strategy, “Our Choice, Our Future”, to utilise 100% renewable electricity in its core operations by 2026, and supports Hong Kong’s carbon neutrality goal before 2050.
Aside from its commitment to transition towards renewable electricity, Swire Coca-Cola HK is committed to advancing sustainability in other key areas like packaging, which drives a more circular economy.
Over the years, Swire Coca-Cola HK has been increasing the use of recycled content in its packaging and achieved 50% recycled content in its PET portfolio last year. Together with The Coca-Cola Company, Swire Coca-Cola HK supports the Community Plastic Beverage Bottle Recycling Programme in Tin Shui Wai, where used plastic beverage bottles are collected by cleaners at housing estates, residential buildings, and shopping malls. Since its launch in October 2022, the scheme has recovered approximately 8.8 million plastic beverage bottles.
