The Lunar New Year is an important festival celebrated in various regions across Asia. Swire Coca-Cola’s franchise territories launched special product packaging for the Lunar New Year, adding joy to this festive reunion!
Special product packaging for the Lunar New Year in Hong Kong and Taiwan Markets
In celebration of the Year of the Dragon, Coca-Cola collaborated with paper-cutting artists to create limited-edition packaging for the Greater China region. The cans feature congratulatory phrases and intricate dragon paper-cut patterns. The design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese auspicious motifs, interpreted in a modern style. The sleek can design also has an interactive feature: the cans can be linked together to form a unified dragon motif.
In the Vietnamese market, the exclusive design showcases the Golden Dragon, which is reminiscent of the Ly Dynasty, alongside Coca-Cola's emblematic Golden Swallows, infusing the design with symbols of affluence and delight. This is the first edition to weave the zodiac's dragon and swallows into an elegant pattern accented by Coca-Cola’s iconic golden hue. Adding a personalised touch, each can carries one of 100 unique messages, offering a way to send heartfelt wishes for a prosperous and fulfilling New Year.
Apart from the limited-edition packaging, each market organised various promotional activities to welcome the New Year:
In Mainland China, Coca-Cola created a heartwarming New Year mini-movie to showcase precious family moments during the festive season.
In Hong Kong, a Lunar New Year ‘Poon Choi’ Banquet was hosted, with a celebrity idol joining consumers for a joyful meal.
In Taiwan, at the Taipei Lantern Festival, Coca-Cola’s lantern featured the golden dragon motif from the limited-edition packaging, combining craftsmanship, technology, and audiovisual effects to create a sensory experience. The latern was crafted from recycled aluminium, underscoring our commitment to sustainability practices.
In Vietnam, New Year gift boxes were delivered to those in need in the local communities.
Various markets displayed the “Coca-Cola” New Year-themed packaging products in stores. Creative displays made of stacked products not only enhanced the festive atmosphere, but also attracted consumers. Our sales teams actively visited merchants, assisting them in enhancing store execution and boosting sales performance.
