As a total beverage company, Swire Coca-Cola aligns with The Coca-Cola Company’s product strategy to optimise product portfolios and provide consumers with diversified and expanded choices to meet their refreshment needs.
As part of this strategy, we have expanded our market of alcoholic beverages by introducing the "Lemon-Dou" Japanese-style lemon sour from Japan in our franchise areas. Following its launch in the China market in 2021, it was introduced in the Taiwan market last October as a limited sale promotion to let Taiwanese consumers experience this special flavour. "Lemon-Dou" comes in three flavours, each containing different alcohol and lemon juice content. The three flavours are: Honey Lemon (3% alcohol), Signature Lemon (5% alcohol) and Devil Lemon (9% alcohol).
First launched under The Coca-Cola Company in May 2018 in Kyushu, Japan, "Lemon-Dou" received good market response and was subsequently promoted to the whole of Japan in 2019. Japanese-style lemon sour is a popular drink in Japanese izakaya. It is usually made of lemon juice, alcohol and sparkling water, with the lemon juice made by grinding whole lemons with the peel and seeds to give the drink a rich flavour and texture. Although “Lemon-Dou” is a product developed according to the needs of local Japanese consumers, it has gradually expanded from Japan to other markets, which confirms Coca-Cola's product strategy of continuous innovation.
