Since 2016, Coca-Cola Cambodia has supported Planet Water Foundation through the fund from The Coca-Cola Foundation in deploying 41 AquaTower and AquaSan systems that provide over 288 million liters of clean drinking water to more than 73,000 people in 25 provinces across Cambodia.
In addition to clean drinking water, the AquaTower projects also provide rural schools and communities with handwashing and sanitation systems. Handwashing stations are integrated into the base of each AquaTower, and serve as key hygiene resources for recipient schools, with each station offering liquid soap dispensers as well as promotional banner messaging to raise handwashing awareness and best practices. The projects also support learning through activity-based hygiene education programmes to educate and empower children and their caregivers to create a change in knowledge and behaviour of water health and hygiene.
Mark Steele, Founder and CEO of Planet Water Foundation said, “I am beyond thankful for the support we have received and continue to receive from our sponsors and corporate partners, including The Coca-Cola Foundation. The impact we are making cannot merely be measured by numbers. By bringing clean drinking water to communities in need, we are drastically improving the health and quality of life for thousands of individuals who can now turn their attention to other aspects of life instead of having this challenge continue to be an ongoing concern.”
His Excellency Cham Prasidh, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation said, “On behalf of the Government of Cambodia, I would like to express my deep gratitude to The Coca-Cola Foundation and the Coca-Cola Cambodia Company for their help in promoting health and hygiene throughout Cambodia. The AquaTowers are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of many Cambodians.”
