Take action to protect our ocean

Our ocean is a precious natural resource. A revitalised ocean would not only regulate the climate and maintain the water cycle, but it could mitigate the effects of climate change. However, ocean pollution has grown into a worldwide problem. Therefore, Swire Coca-Cola has partnered with environmental organisations and mobilised its employees from different operating regions to join hands for coastal cleanup.

In 2022, our Hong Kong head office participated in an annual global environmental event “The International Coastal Cleanup Hong Kong” that was initiated by the Ocean Conservancy and coordinated by The Green Council to keep the city’s coastal areas clean. Nearly 40 employees went to Stanley Beach in Hong Kong to pick up marine debris and to collect data for the organiser to analyse and identify the sources of marine debris. The results will then be used for promoting public awareness of marine conservation issues.

Swire Coca-Cola Taiwan also organised another beach cleanup event at Guanyin, Taoyuan. Despite the unstable weather on the service day, over 100 volunteers participated in cleaning up 293 kilograms of marine debris, armed with a strong determination and passion for the environment.

In addition, our Shanghai volunteers also supported the "World Cleanup Day" last September by organising two cleanup activities with the theme of "World Without Waste" in Shanghai and Wu Xi. More than 523 kilograms of trash was collected.

In the US, our production facility in Oregon uses water from the Willamette river. With our commitment to safeguarding the water resources in the community in which we operate, we collaborated with the environmental organisation Willamette Riverkeeper to collect trash along the river in canoes, thus replenishing the natural water resources.
