New Facility in Kunshan Marks the Group's Single Largest Investment in the Chinese Market

On 20th September, Swire Coca-Cola marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the company when it broke ground on a new facility in the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. First announced in January, the development of the new facility represents Swire Coca-Cola’s single largest strategic investment in the Chinese Mainland market, with a total investment of 2 billion yuan (approx. USD270 million).

Swire Coca-Cola's Managing Director Karen So attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Celebrating another milestone for the company, she said, ’The fast-growing Chinese market is an important growth engine and key strategic market for Swire Coca-Cola, and the company will continue to increase its investment in the country’.

Occupying 116,000 square metres, the new plant will integrate production, distribution, and a regional sales headquarters that will serve a vast franchise population in Eastern China. Featuring 13 production lines, the plant is expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2025. With a maximum annual beverage filling capacity of over 1.6 million tons and projected annual sales of 1.2 billion yuan, it aims to be at the forefront of the food and beverage industry.

The new plant will be equipped with state-of-the-art production lines and will implement highly automated MIS (Manufacture Information System) and QMS (Quality Management System) to ensure comprehensive information flow management that will optimise production processes. Embracing the power of technology, Swire Coca-Cola Suzhou will leverage cloud services and big data to foster seamless collaboration between humans and machines, taking productivity and operational effectiveness to new heights.

Swire Coca-Cola’s confidence in the Chinese market is evident in its long-term vision and investment plans. In the next ten years, the total investment of Swire Coca-Cola in the Chinese Mainland will exceed 12 billion yuan, which includes the new plant in Kunshan with 2 billion yuan, a new plant in Zhengzhou with an investment of 900 million yuan and a new facility in Guangdong with 1.25 billion yuan.
