Water is the key ingredient in our beverages and essential for the health of our ecosystem and communities. At Swire Coca-Cola, we are dedicated to protecting this precious resource for the future by supporting water replenishment projects. In the U.S., we have worked closely with The Coca-Cola Company and the Coca-Cola Foundation to achieve this goal. An incredible 281% of the water used in our beverages sold in the U.S. was replenished in 2022.
The Coca-Cola Company has a long-standing partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. Over the past ten years, this partnership has restored nearly 900 acres of watersheds and replenished more than 634 million gallons of water on national forests and grasslands across the U.S.
To mark its 10th anniversary, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and The Coca-Cola Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding renewing their collaboration to restore and improve watersheds on national forests and grasslands for another five years. As a proud partner, our Director of Sustainability at Swire Coca-Cola USA, Mike Bernier, attended the signing ceremony to reaffirm our joint efforts to improve the health of forested watersheds.
Swire Coca-Cola, The Coca-Cola Company, and the Foundation have contributed nearly US$900,000 towards watershed restoration projects being implemented in 2023 throughout our franchise territory, including Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico.
