Refreshing Drinks Attract Youth Market

As two fast-growing markets, Cambodia and Vietnam present ample business opportunities for Swire Coca-Cola. Both markets have a young population who tend to be more active and enjoy soft drinks. The current per capita consumption of Coca-Cola beverages is 36 units in Vietnam and 46 in Cambodia. This is very low compared with other markets such as Hong Kong where it is 186; hence, there is immense potential we can unlock.

Portfolio expansion is a key pillar of Swire Coca-Cola’s strategic priority. We are keen to diversify and expand our categories, particularly into the energy category. Presently in Cambodia and Vietnam, energy drinks form the biggest category. To capture this huge opportunity for growing market share in this category, we are having some exciting promotions this summer for our invigorating drinks in both markets!

Launching an Exciting New Brand – “Thums Up Charged”

The new global brand “Thums Up Charged” was launched in Vietnam in June. A caffeinated drink that embodies the spirit of "Go For It", “Thums Up Charged” encourages Gen Z to confidently pursue their passions and live life to the fullest. “Thums Up Charged” comes in two delicious flavours – Fresh Kiwi and Juicy Berry – and contains added caffeine, vitamin B3 and zinc to meet the needs of consumers.

Relaunching “Samurai”

Introduced to the market in 2012, “Samurai” is now one of the most popular energy drinks among the younger generation in Cambodia. With its widely known tagline ’delicious till the last drop‘, “Samurai” comes in two flavours – “Red Strawberry” and “Yellow Fruity”.

With the ambition of further expanding market share, a comprehensive marketing campaign relaunched Samurai in Cambodia in May. The campaign included: advertising, brand ambassador events, special sales promotions, and digital marketing on social media platforms.
