Expanding the No-Sugar Beverage Market in China

As a total beverage company, Swire Coca-Cola continues to diversify its beverage portfolio to meet consumers’ changing preferences and the growing demand for healthier options. In our China market, 60% of our brands now come with low- and no-sugar options, including unsweetened tea and soda water.

Tea holds a significant place in Chinese culture. Compared to traditional tea products, ready-to-drink tea offers greater convenience, making it increasingly popular in the market. Capturing the rapid growth of this market in China, we have introduced a variety of flavours under our “Authentic Tea House” cold brew line. Last year, we launched our green tea and oolong tea flavours, and we have expanded the product line with two new flavours this year, dahongpao and jasmine. These teas are made using a cold brewing technique that minimises bitterness and enhances sweetness.
This year, we have added a new product to our no-sugar and zero-calorie “ChunYue Soda Water“ line: a lemon-flavoured soda water with a pH value exceeding 9.0. This addition complements our existing portfolio, which features a zinc-enhanced, blueberry-flavoured soda water, along with a citrus-flavoured soda water enriched with niacin, a crucial B vitamin. These beverages not only hydrate our consumers but also replenish a variety of essential minerals.

The strong performance of “Authentic Tea House” and “ChunYue Soda Water” underscores our successful strategy execution. In the first half of this year alone, “Authentic Tea House” sales revenue and volume have surpassed last year's total figures, demonstrating a remarkable growth of 123%. Similarly, “ChunYue Soda Water” has exceeded the previous year's revenue within this year, marking an impressive growth of 96%. We will continue to offer more low-sugar and sugar-free product choices and intensify our promotional efforts to make low- and no-sugar drinks more accessible to consumers.
